I am excited about the CAL coming in a few weeks – being new to the blog, i started looking at previous posts and found the Knit Along Mystery Afghan – even though it has ended and I have seen the finished projects, I am going to make one myself – using worsted yarn from my stash (I have been accused of having enough yarn to knit a tea cozy for our house!) – I’m already halfway through the first block, it’s very interesting – although I think so far I like the ‘wrong side’ better than the ‘right side’ – will have to complete the block before I decide which side I will use. Hopefully will have it completed before the CAL posts its first clue! Thank you.

I have completed my first square of the CAL and it promises to be fun. I would very much like to find the clues for the KAL from last year. Could someone send me the link please.

I could probably be accused of that too, but my dad doesn’t know just how much yarn I have stored in the basement and my closet. I almost feel guilty about bringing in anymore, so I do it secretly now!

I am interested in learning the solid colors in the Bernat Satin colors, Whisper Ombre and Luxury Ombre. Do they match the Bernat Satin solid colors??? and what are they???

  4. Just started the afghan & finished 1 of each 1st 4 squares–I like to go out of order. I am leaving a 20 ” length of yarn at the end of each square to sew them together & it also can be used to rell which is the right side

Has anyone done the Sweet Baby Hoodie in Crochet. I am having a problem (or a brain freeze) with the hood and the finishing directions. Can anyone give me a clue?

I am using Bernat felting wool and would like to know how to set the color(s) so they do not lose vibrancy of color when felted. I am knitting cuffs for felted wool mittens. Taking the old wool sweaters, felting them and if there is no ribbing on the original sweater, cuffs need to be knitted to put on the finished mittens. Any assistance would be very welcome.

Hi! I am working “Ready Set Snow” book # 530198 and I’m having difficulty interpurtationg the pattern. I have not used Canadian patterns before. I am making the boot toppers only so I have not done the major pattern. I have re-started the cable stitch pattern atleast 4 times and have not had success in it ending with the right stitches. If anyone could, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello, new to this site. I’m having problems with a knitting pattern in the Chill in the Air booklet, specifically Yoke Pullover. I can’t figure out what it means at the part between 200 sts. and 80 stitches. I’m totally stuck.
    Thanks!

I noticed that Joann’s is now carrying Waverly worsted weight yarn. The colors are beautiful! I also noticed that I can’t find any other source for this product. Will this be a permanent product at Joann’s?

    King/Queen baby hats (to knit)

Thank you for your free patterns. I had no trouble with the hat part of this pattern. However, when attempting (15 times) to do the crown edging (using the newborn sizing) it simply would not come together. As an matter of information, I did see that you begin the second crown top with the second row. It still did not do right.

If there is an correction somewhere I could not find it. Please examine this for me and let me know what, if anything, I’m doing wrong.
This is for twins – boy and girl – and have both hats done.

    Thank you Erma Ripley

  14. Marianne Della Serra says:

I am having trouble with the pipsqueak yarn. Trying to follow the pattern but the yarn is so fluffy that I can not count the stitches? anyone have suggestions on how to work with this yarn? It’s beautiful but i’m frustrated.

    • bernatyarns says:

      Hi Marianne –
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with the yarn. One possible solution would be to work with larger stitches/larger needles, though it will affect the finished product and gauge. When I am having trouble keeping count of my stitches, walking them slowly using my fingers helps – sometimes it’s easier to feel the stitch when you can’t see it.
It’s a beautiful yarn and I hope you’re able to work with it.
      Good luck!

I have an old pattern book for Bernat Krysta Plus yarn. There is a pattern for a gilet that I made years ago and would love to make again. Can anyone tell me what yarn would be a good substitute for Krysta Plus. Thank you.
    Margaret

    • bernatyarns says:

      Hi Margaret –
As you know, Bernat Krysta Plus is not an active yarn, but it looks like it is similar in makeup to Bernat Roving. I’d try to get gauge from that, and if it’s too bulky, you may want to try out Bernat Softee Chunky. Good luck!

  16. Julie Wincott says:

I am hoping for a little help in reading a pattern that has me stumped. I’ve been knitting (self-taught) for about 15 months, so I hit reading snags. I am trying to start the Bernat Alpaca Capelet and I am doing something wrong with the 1st row and the yo’s. I get to the far end & don’t have enough stitches to do the sleeve section. I am almost thinking the yo should be a m1. Can someone who has made this help me out?

  17. Cricri says:

I would like to know is someone try the pattern. I follow exactly the pattern but the result is very different. the earflap seem not to be a the right place they are almost at the back.and i don’t have many stitch at the back of the hat. I get the earflap and 46 stitches between the earflat (for the front)and only 8 stitches for the back
    did i miss something??

    if somebody could help me

    thank you
