My favorite colors in general are black, red, grey and blues. I’ve recently been branching into green, but for Winter, I like to stick with black, red and grey. That way, I don’t have to worry as much about whether my winter wear matches my shoes or my outfit.
I love bright colors for my winter accessories and my hubby likes grey. I ‘d love to make some of these hats for my nieces and nephews for Christmas…
I love browns and reds…any variation of these colors. But, this winter I am going all in for a pop of color w/some neon orange, shades of yellow, pink and greens.

I love a little of both moody hues and bright colors, depends on if it’s for me or my daughters. My personal favorite is nice deep reds for myself.
For me it really depends who I`m knitting for, but if I`m knitting for no one in particular I gravitate towards rich jewel tones.
I like neons for winter accessories.
For winter, I see so many people with color choice to compliment their jackets. Kids like bright colors, while adults like warm muted colors. Even women like feminine colors like white, pink, red, purple, maroon and burgundy, while men go for grey, black, greens and blue. For teens, it’s variegated colors, and I have been getting requests from tween and teen boys on green cargo yarn for hats and scarves.
At this time I am making hats with colors from my kids schools and there sports teams. It varies from black/red to green/white and blue/white. But when I make regular hats and mitts I like using bright colors. Colors that would stand out if you lost them in a snowbank.

I love the colors of purple (all hues), oranges and reds. Really need color to help get through the winter. Winning a skein of the Softee Chunky would be awesome to share with my crochet class because we will be crocheting the chunky scarves soon.
I love “comfy” colors, like pink and gray. To me they embody winter because they remind me of a comfy pair of sweats that I’d wear curled up on the sofa with a blanket and a cup of cocoa.
Hope to win, love all colors and yarns.
I love jewel tones in the winter!
It really depends on who I am making it for. Most of the time I use bright colours for kids and deeper colours for adults like burgundy, dark blue and I always love a vibrant green.
I love the ombres, how they change colors every few stitches seems to keep me motivated to keep going, and see if I can create a pattern with them.

Very cool look!
I like neutrals with a splash of bright color. A red scarf adds pizzazz to an otherwise bland outfit. Also, it helps to brighten my mood on gloomy winter days.
Winter garments are comfort clothes! greys, blacks and burgundy. However! Scarves, mittens and hats must be bright and bold! purples/blues/reds and greens!!
Those beautiful colors along with your selection of yarns make crocheting for charity such a wonderful thing! the kids in PICU enjoy getting the small gifts as long as they are bright! They say it makes them feel better. I wrap mine up separately for the hospital to hand out. It’s a great feeling to volunteer!
I am a big fan of rusty orangey colors right now, looks good with black, brown, and even camel colored coats!
I like to mix things up for winter. Depending on what and who I am making garments for, I try to go with their personality. I have 12 grandchildren, so there needs to be alot of different colours and patterns, so no one has the same thing. lol. Their ages rein from 18 months to 12 years old, with 2 more new babies on the way, so there is definately alot of fun with so many different shades, colors and patterns. Knitting and crocheting year round is a regular hobby in my life. The spiral hat pattern looks like another fun project to add for this winter.
I love knitting in RED and WHITE for winter and the holidays…especially white snowflakes on a red background.

My winter colors seem to be darker, but any color of yarn is great!
I love the jewel tones for the fall – deep teal, rich purple, garnet, bright olive green, any color with the rich tones of gems! And I love this hat pattern – very cute. I make hats for needy kids at Christmas time, so this pattern will get a real workout!
I have to say that my favorite colors are my kids favorite colors, yellow, green, and purple.
I find now that so much of my crafting revolves around making things for them, and chunky yarn helps me to feel more accomplished since I can finish a project in one sitting~
Dark reds are my favorite for winter
I love neutral colors but the deeper blues are my favorite for this time of year. Hoever, for the kids I go with their favorite color when chosing arn for them. Thanks and I would love to win!

The traditional fall colors are a great way to showcase that one piece that is saturated with gorgeous and rich purples and blues and deep reds and oranges. I like bright colours for winter. Nothing is more cheerful than pulling on bright colours to counter the drab gray of an overcast day. Also, snow seems much prettier when scattered over brightly coloured yarn in the form of mittens, hats, and scarves.
I like the dark green and purples as a fun contrast without being to wacky. I can save that for summer
I like dark colors for winter. Lately I’ve been using camo.
Winter for me is dark colors but with bright accents. A dark blue scarf with a bright yellow flower.

Mostly I crochet wonderfully happy colors into afghans for sick children in the hospital. I try to keep the colors happy and interesting.

I like brights to spruce up my black wool coat.
I like to use brighter colors for Winter garments but especially for Winter accessories. They brighten up my mood, and those who I gift them to. Also, you can find a person better in a snowstorm when they’re wearing them
I LOVE to crochet in bright colors for the winter to chase away the blues! My fave this year is purple tones for girls and bright blues for guys!
I really like the look of the hats!
I like to knit solid colored beanies, and then knit patterns in them. My favorite patterns are superhero logos:)
Warm colors are my favorite for winter
I would actually use most any color. It would just depend on my mood that day.
I would love to knit or crochet hats for all my grandchildren in these softee chunky yarns. So many wonderful colors to choose.
I like browns, ivorys, and reds for fall.
Love the brights to liven things up!
Winter accessories need to be bright and cheerful.
I love using blues, whites or cream, and dark reds, but my kids and my husband love brights, so I tend to do both.
If I am making something for me, my husband, or my son then I stick to neutrals – usually black. If I am making something for my girls then I use bright “girly” colors.
I love the deep, rich colors of burgundy and forest green. They remind me of the holidays and all the war feelings of gathering family and friends together to celebrate. I also love the calming effect of deep blues and whites together.
I usually stick with neutrals or light blues for myself in the winter, for the kids I go a little brighter. I can not wait to try this hat. I bought a bright orange chunky yarn and was wondering what to make with it. This would be perfect and a scarf to match it.
I love to use different shades of blue or green mostly soft colors against the stronger color
It really depends on who it is for. I usually match colors to personality rather than season. My daughter gets girly pastels and my niece gets moody dark colors. Men usually get something related to a favorite team:)
I like the fall colors
I like browns/neutrals for clothing, but accessories are where I add some color.
I think brites are the best especially for the kids. They stand out and the kids like them better.

I love to mix neutrals with a pop of color during the winter for a pick-me-up on those cold days.
Like others have said, I like to mix things up. Although I loved all the fancy scarf yarns that have been recently out and about, they were just to easy to do, you know?
So, I’m experiementing. I am knitting scarfs in Solo or Chunky’s using various mixes of patterns, and then I pick up stitches at each end, one at a time, and knit about 8-12 inches of maybe a bobble yarn….though I like to use the ribbony scarf yarns for the more slender scarfs.
As for the mitts to match the scarf, I knit them without a cuff…..and add that later using the specialty yarn.
I love teals and plum in winter! If course would love to make a bright hat with this pattern for my daughter!
Love the hat patterns! With 2 grand daughters and another one on the way I make a lot of hats. They both are hat crazy!
Love the blues and purples…they make my heart sing with comfort.
I buy & use 1) camo-colors for ALL the men in my family to prepare for winter & hunting olive green, brown, tan & mix of those. Yes they each get a new one–because they always need more & either they keep using last years or it;s been worn out or lost. And they always need multiple wts of yarn & amounts of wool blended in–for the different weather elements they are .EASY CARE too.
2) for the girls, I buy & use bright fun & more luxury fibers (not as easy care) also a little bit of navy or, blues for a everyday hat..

I wear a lot of black and darker colors and then add something brighter to the mix like a scarf or a hat in a bright, fun color.
As someone who once lived somewhere where 3 ft of snow stuck around for a few months, I’m all about bright colors! The colors i cant wait to see when the snow melts on the spring! I once made a scarf using a light blue, light green and white cause they made me think of the beach and wore it all winter!

I love to knit for my Grandaughter Addison. Right now she is crazy about pink and purple so I am looking for a mixture of those colors.
My two little boys like red and blue, my husband likes classic blacks and neutrals, and I like bright colorways!
So I guess in my house, anything goes!
Bright bright bright!
I love all the colors.
The winters down south are so drained of color, but these boring monotone hues make an excellent backdrop for bright and cheery colors. I love to use the traditional combinations, like white-blue-silver, gray-pink-white, red-green-gold, etc. I love color.
Bright! Bright! Bright!
I like to go for cooler colors like purples, blues, greens, and grays, but in light and dark shades. I like to work with multiple yarns at once, so I tend to mix light and dark shades for balance and different weights to be eye catching. However, if I make a gift for someone, I’ll have fun with the colors they like.
I love using dark greens, browns and maroons with a touch of beige…. would make a beautiful hat

Love the fall Colors… Oranges. Browns. Purples
I like blues and grays for winter stuff for me.. However, I will make hats for friends an family in whatever colors they like. i’ve made a NY Jets hat, a NY Mets hat and even a NASCAR hat.. So color doesn’t matter too much when creating something your family will want to wear.

)
Love all the yarns you offer.
I like to keep dark colors on the bottom (classic denim, gray wool, long black skirts, and deep dark browns), but wear something bright and festive for a top. I love the Autumn pallet and enjoy wearing it year round. Teals, plums, burgundies, pumpkin, green pea, and warm pinks. Keeping my top a solid color then allows me to liven up my outfit with my accessories. Mittens with stripes of colors and a hat and scarf to match. Maybe a bohemian style bag, too.
I love winter blues and whites.
Since I gift all the scarves I make, I like to work with ombres, in shades of just about every color!
I like earthy hues for winter.
A variety of greens with touches of wine

find a way to use them.
In the past, I have been attracted to darker colors for winter, but lately I am trying to be more aware of color. I’m hoping to bring some brighter colors into my home and wardrobe this winter to accompany the darker shades. I found a great website for color:
http://design-seeds.com/
Love rich and luscious jewel tones, burgundy, red, gold and oranges. The colours of leaves turning in the fall.

sellcrystal2 at yahoo dot com
I use pretty much any colour! I do tend to go for softer and lighter blues and greens and deeper reds and oranges; there’s always a good grey in there too
All depends on the project.
I like to use neutrals – black, blue, grey. One – it helps hide dirt and two, they’ll match any of my jackets.
I love to use lots of jewel colors – emerald green, ruby red, sapphire blue. Colors that make me feel happy.
Winter white, or navy, or both for me….gifts – usually in the “school colors” or a match for a sweater ….uh, that’s not one favorite, oh well, I’m easily distracted by a beautiful yarn of ANY color!
We love bright colours like red and vivid orange to bighten up basics, especially black.
There is also still a place for soft pastels, like pale pink, blue, soft green and lilac. They are so adorable.
We fall in love with shiny glittery and soft fluffy wools instantly.
I like to wear deep hues in the winter of red, blue and green mixed with the neutrals: winter white, black, smokey grey and reddish browns.
I like outerwear accessories to be in jewel tones as these contrast beautifully with the snow and the dark colours most northeners like to wear.
The Softee Chunky “Teal Twists” is very appealling.
I love to crochet in earth tones green and brown and add a feminine touch with pink or burgundy colors.
My first choice is anything with red in it. There’s a lot of my handmade red hats bobbing around out there!
I love the darker colors for fall (deep reds, purples and browns) and I love the pinks, blues, whites, greens, and reds for winter!
When it comes to winter time I like to wear really bright bold colors of orange and red. Wearing these bright colors remind me of the changing of the leaves.
I tone them down with accessories in a tan, chocolate, or black.
I have my two young great nephews to make the hats for. Making it for them I would choose bright colors, reds, yellows and orange. However their father is a NY Giant fan so he would probably prefer red, white and blue. You can’t go wrong with those patriotic colors.
I love the bright colors for my kids’ things but I use greens and browns for myself. Carol in New Mexico

Love grays, greens, and browns, but brighter colors for kids!
I love purples and think that they are a neutral but then I aspire to wear a purple hat with my red dress and yes I qualify for being old and I know that the above is the reverse of what the poem actually said. I have been known to wear my red hat but haven’t yet tried it with any thing purple. Only because at this time i don’t have a purple dress.:~(
I go for the ice blues with the white snowflake patterns. Something cheerful about those white snowflakes!
I like bright colors and variegated yarn. Look forward to making the hat for my “Baby Buddies” group to give to kids who are receiving chemo.
Just finished a winter hat and scarf in very bright colors (orange, pink, yellow, purple), although my winter items are usually more muted (dusty purples, blues, etc). Also started now on a shawl to keep warm at the office this winter, and that will be a cream color, only so it goes with everything!
