  1. Ellen Miller says:

My favorite crochet project is definitely a baby blanket. There is so much scope for creativity, both in pattern and color. Gauge does not matter that much, which is convenient, and there is no fitting. And (one of my favorite points!), a baby blanket is a small enough project that I can finish it before I get bored with it! I crochet blankets to give as gifts; since my children are young married adults, they have lots of friends starting or adding to their families. I also crochet blankets for a local crisis pregnancy center.

I also tried a Ten Stitch Twist that was nearly the death of me — I can set things down when I reach the end of a row, and with only 10 stitches at a time it was too easy to put down! I finally tapered it to a circle and ran a ruffled pinwheel border just to finish the blasted thing.

  169. Rhonda says:

Yes baby blankets are one of my favourite projects to knit or crochet for babies, but also for the most “grabbed-for” cozy throw on the couch. What better way to welcome a new baby into this world than with a hand-made blanket made with the softest and easiest care yarns out there. I have used Bernat yarns for years and will continue to as they give me the most options and colour choices to create these wonderful gifts with. I know they will be cherished but also lovingly used. Leftovers are used up in knitted toys and crocheted dolly blankets, bootees or hats and mittens.
