It’s like BUTTAH, I tell you! Like BUTTAH! 
So true…..the Bernat Baby Blanket yarn is incredibly soft. So soft, that it’s hard to put down after you start working with it. Sure does make knitting a breeze.
After just a few weeks, I’m finished knitting the baby blanket I’ve been working on!
I used Bernat’s Simple Basketweave stitch, found in the Stitch Gallery section of the Bernat website.
My life was busy while I was working on the blanket. I was doing lots of home improvement projects, to get my living room set up for the new organ I just bought! I’m a church organist, so I was excited to find a full size organ for a great price. My living room was in bad shape, so I decided to use the organ as my excuse to get it repainted and refloored. I did it all myself, and now the new organ is installed! As you can see here, I was at work on the blanket at the same time the organ got here.
So, if you are a busy person, don’t let it keep you from your knitting. You can do it! Just use your knitting as a reward for getting other tasks accomplished. It was a great incentive for me!

Thanks Deanna! I think I should knit another one for myself, because I miss holding that soft blanket. Maybe mine will be pink and white, and I can use it in my craft room.

Oh yeah! I always have to give myself an incentive to do ANYTHING I don’t like to do. Knitting and buying yarn works wonders for me.
What size needles and how many stitches did you cast on to make this blanket? It’s beautiful!

I used size 11 needles, cast on 72 stitches, and used 5 small skeins of Bernat Baby Blanket yarn. I’m a tight knitter, so keep that in mind when planning your own blanket. You might want an extra skein, just in case. My finished blanket was 36 inches square.
Just finished knitting a baby blanket with the baby blanket yarn. Now that it is done it has an oily smell to it. Did anyone else have this problem with this yarn. Not sure that I would want it near a baby. Maybe someone can tell me what this smell is?
Hi Sandra – I’ve forwarded your concern to our yarn quality department. I haven’t heard of anything of the sort myself. Hopefully they can answer your question to your satisfaction.

I just finished this baby blanket in a lovely pink. It took me a long time as I have arthritis in my fingers and working with the larger needles and yarn was difficult. I did finish it just hours after our granddaughter was born.
I have a couple of concerns – first the smell. I have washed the blanket twice and still can’t seem to get rid of this chemical/oil smell. The other was the number of knots in the yarn. The first two balls were not bad, but the second two balls had a dozen knots between them. Disappointing when looking at the finished products with the knots standing out.
I know there is nothing that can be done about the knots, but I can’t send it off with this smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

What crochet stitch do you think would work up well with that heavy baby yarn, I don’t knit and your blanket was just beautiful.
