Remember the lovely new yarn waiting for me? Have you been guessing my new project? The pretty spring-summery colors are meant for a new baby (yet to be born). Looking forward to trying my hand at my first crocheted garment. There are so many lovely crocheted items out there I’d love to make. I gotta start somewhere. What could be easier than a simple tunic in baby size (famous last words?)? I’m making the adorable tunic from new Bernat pattern book It’s a Girl. At least I’m off to a good start.

I’m enjoying the construction thus far: the “rib” section is made side ways and then I pick up stitches along the side. How cool is that? I always wondered how crocheters created a ribbed fabric. Now I know.
I hope I can progress through this one quickly. The tunic and matching beret will be for a co-worker who’s expecting her baby in early August. I should be finished in time, right? Famous last words?
