How Goes the Skull?

So my hat is slowly growing.  What do you think of my progress so far?  I really like the pink skull.  A white one might have contrasted too much with the rich burgundy background.

I think the only hard part has been dividing my skeins of yarn into smaller balls.  Intarsia isn’t hard, but it requires frequent untangling of strands . . . argh!

With most of the intarsia complete, the hat should move along quickly now: decrease for the crown and then seam up the back.
