My cool set of kitchen stuff for my 70′s kitchen is growing! So far, I’ve made three dishcloths, one towel, and a tea cozy. Far OUT, Man!
I designed the towel myself, starting off with several rows of Bernat’s “Feather and Fan Dishcloth“, then switching to stockinette and garter stitch, then changing colors. I made two halves of the towel, then joined them together with kitchener stitch. I’m very proud of how it turned out.
When I finished the towel, I was thrilled to finally cast on my tea cozy. The reason I was excited was because I was trying new Bernat Mosaic yarn for the very first time. I chose the color “Psychedelic”, and it is PACKED with bright color! If this doesn’t look like the 70′s, I don’t know what does.
While casting on the stitches for the cozy, I was delighted with the delicate feel of the Bernat Mosaic yarn…..a nice soft yarn that flowed nicely in my hands. After just a day, I already finished half of the tea pot!
Before casting on the second half, I pulled out yarn from the skein until I got to the same color I cast on for the first half. I wanted my two sides to match. I’ll save the orange, yellow and green section for another small project.
Pretty soon, I had the other half of the cozy complete, and was seaming it together. I think my stripes match very well!
When the seaming was complete, I grabbed the blue dishcloths and towel I made, and set them all out together. I love the way they all look together! This is the prettiest kitchen set I’ve ever had.
I’m still making more dishcloths, using the Tangerine Bernat Handicrafter Cotton. My first cloth uses that color, along with the Mod Blue I used earlier, to make a “Mosaic Flower Dishcloth”. The pattern is in Bernat’s Kitchen Kolors pattern book, and it’s fun to knit! I really like the contrast of the blue and orange together. And it’s fun to me that the name of the pattern has “Mosaic” in it…..ties it together very nicely with the tea cozy I made earlier.
And I want to make some MORE dishcloths, using Tangerine and In Motion Twists.
My kitchen is gonna be SO colorful now!
