An “Average” Lady's Hat

Yarn – Bernat Roving in 00104 Cobalt

For myself, I knit up this Cable Hat in the new Roving yarn by Bernat, a bulky weight wool and acrylic yarn. After much debate with myself, I chose the cobalt blue colorway and found it to be a rich and pretty blue color.

The cables were proving to be a little difficult, as the yarn is spun somewhat loosely. But it knit up well with a little bit of fuzz accumulating on the surface of the stitches – which could easily be removed by gently rubbing it off or by using a sweater comb.

I had to laugh when I read that the pattern makes a hat to fit “the average lady.” My lady-ness might be somewhat debatable, but average I am not! However, if the hat fits, the hat fits – and this one fits beautifully (as demonstrated by my daughter in the photo).

Thanks, ladies! It is a nice warm and smooshy hat… now if only I could get it away from my daughter! ;-)

I agree with you – I didn’t have any trouble knitting it – but it certainly won’t fit “an average adult ! !
