Ah, the baskets. My house is being consumed by baskets. There are pink baskets:

And my latest finished creation, an ivory basket.

This ivory basket, from the Bernat Eco-Kitchen book, was super fast to knit up and, once you memorize the very simple basket stitch pattern, a breeze to work on. Just be sure to cast on and bind off loosely – my bind off was too tight the first time and I had to rip it out and re-do it. Also, take frequent breaks — my hands would start to hurt from holding the three strands together. I’m used to using dk- or worsted-weight yarn and smaller needles, so maybe that’s why my fingers would start to feel sore.

Now that the baskets are done, it’s time to tell you about my next project: a hat! I’m knitting the Baby Jacquards – Ruffle Hat.

More details and finished hat photos next time around!
