Hi, I’m Teresa and am thrilled to be a part of the Bernat blog! I’ve been knitting off and on since I was about 13, and have also dabbled in crochet, cross stitch, quilting, and embroidery. Knitting, however, is my first love and I keep coming back to those pointy sticks.
I’m about to delve into my first project for Bernat and have to admit something: I hate to knit test swatches. I hate it, hate it, hate it. In fact, I usually skip it, which results in either a perfectly gauged knitted item or a wonky, poorly knitted one that I end up tearing out and restarting with different size needles until it knits out properly – or good enough. But this time, I swatched. And I think it turned out pretty nicely, no?

This is a project using the Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Twists in Rose Twists. Stay tuned to hear more and see my progress!

Welcome to the blog!
(I hate making them too!)
That is a beautiful swatch
I can’t wait to read about your first project.
Thanks, Jen!
Welcome to the party, Teresa!
Looking forward to seeing all your handiwork.
Welcome Teresa!
So glad to see your first post! Love your swatch – the yarn looks so pretty and soft!
Hi Teresa! I can hardly wait to read about your project.
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your projects and getting to know you all.
I need a crochet pattern for a large heart shaped afghan. My niece told me that she wants a heart so I’m going to try. Just wondering if anyone else had ever done this. Also my other niece piped up and said if her sister was getting a heart then she wanted a smiley face afghan! So i could use a little help there as well. I wasn’t sure where to post to get a conversation started. I hope this is ok!
What about using Tunisian Simple Stitch? You could then either cross-stitch the design on the afghan or you can work it as you go changing colors according to a graph.
Does anyone have a pattern, or know where I can find one, for those big headbands that taper to the back??? I don’t know what they are called and can’t find one. Thanks.
