Cables in PINK

I’m now at the cabled section of the hat.  It’s not my first time in “cable-land”, but this pattern still confused me a bit.  I was going back and forth between the hat directions and the cable pattern at the beginning of the design – but just kept scratching my head, thinking, “Where am I?  What am I DOING?”  So, I ended up having to type out the directions for this section row by row.

I’m sure I made a mistake in the cabling when I didn’t have my row-by-row instruction, but I’m just gonna let it slide.  That part will probably be under the brim anyway, so it may never show.  Also, I haven’t been feeling well lately, and just don’t want to frog my knitting.   You DO know what frogging is, right?  If you don’t, I’ll translate.  It’s just ripping out your knitting.  It’s called frogging, because you “rip it, rip it, rip it”!   Ha!

Here’s my video, showing how to work the cables on Row 3 of the cabled section of the hat.  That row has a C3B and a C3F on it.  If you’ve never done cables before, just follow along with my video.  I’ve added some soothing music to help calm your nerves while learning. :)

Now that I’m comfortable working the cabled section, my knitting is going much quicker.  My row-by-row printout is helping a LOT!  I’m already halfway through the cabled section now.  Woo Hoo!   I might just finish this hat in record time.

Hello! First time commenting on here! ;) I just wanted to thank you for your honesty about previous projects and your doubts that you’d had about making this one. I have made 2 items in the past, both which did not end up fitting me, as they were too large. I really have wanted to make a simple vest pattern that I have, but was a bit nervous about trying a garment again. I like your idea to measure a garment you have already..I’ll have to do that. And I also usually skip the swatches…I’ll have to do one of those too. ;) Thank you for your tips! Your tips helped me boost up my confidence some…so I’ll have to try out my pattern, as soon as I can get the yarn. :) I can’t wait to see how your sweater turns out! :) Good luck!

Sandy, I’m loving the hot pink colour of your hat. Since I’m new to cables, I appreciate all the useful advice.

That Ultra Pink IS nice, isn’t it? There is not another color that bright in Bernat’s yarns that I’ve found. Such a vibrant, happy color. :) Good luck with your cables, Dina!

      Hi Sarah,

That pattern was called “Baby Dress”. Really!
I bet that the company that bought the pattern from her will probably change the name of it. (tee-hee)
