(singing) “Roll out the barrel…we’ll have a barrel of fun!”
Yeah, I know….it’s kinda early to start celebrating, but I always let myself have a little party when I finish each part of a knitting project. Woo Hoo!
The back of my cape is COMPLETE!

My party can’t last that long, though…because I still have work to do. I have immediately cast on the front of the cape, to keep my momentum going.

I decided to get all my cape stuff together in a pretty basket, so I could easily carry it to my knitting group tomorrow. I want them to see my nice cape in progress. Our knitting group meets once or twice a month, to work on our crafts, share our latest FOs, and get advice on problems we might be having. If you don’t have a group in your area, you should start one up yourself, because it’s a lot of fun.

In the middle of my cape (literally!), I received another package of yarn from Bernat. Yippee!!! Time for another party! Ha!
Now I have everything ready to start making next month’s project. It’s another free pattern from the Bernat website, called the “Star Afghan“, and it’s absolutely GORGEOUS! My step-son has been asking for an afghan, so this is what I’ve chosen to make for him. I would venture to say that he will think the afghan is “cool”.
Here’s a photo, so you can see what the finished product should look like:
I’m making mine with black, grey, and red yarns, since that’s what my stepson has requested. I’m anxious to start knitting that beautiful afghan!

Congrats on your cape and what a nice shade of green I might add. I like it very much and wish I could knit like that. Maybe with a little practice. In the meantime I’ll stick to crochet which is what I do best and keep going with the KAL afghan, which I have yet to start since it’s so intimidating.
I wish I had a knitting group but I don’t kow that many knitters. Just my mom and my grandma. I’ve heard of some knitting groups from yarn shops I visit sometimes, problem is they get together at business hours and I have to work full time!!!!
I would be great to start one on the weekends. Maybe I’ll start one even if its just my mom and me. That way we can push each other to finish our respective projects because we are always leaving them halfway done.
I hope you can get a crochet/knit group started in your area. Maybe you could just start knitting at a public place at the same time each week, and see if others start joining you!
I’ve considered doing that at my local library or coffee shop.
I looooove that star afghan – what a nifty design!

Isn’t the afghan gorgeous? It was a very easy decision when choosing my next project.
